The origins of the Allées Provençales in Aix-en-Provence

Les Allées, also known as the Allées Provençales, date from April 2007 and form Aix-en-Provence's most recent district, acting as a genuine extension of the historic centre.

Designed in consultation with the city and in partnership with city-centre retailers, the Allées perfectly illustrate Aix-en-Provence's motto: a source of inspiration! The Allées are Aix's shopping destination, with more than 50 shops and restaurants. This new heart of the city includes housing, shops and offices, private car parks as well as a public car park. The Allées Provençales are ideally located just 200 metres from the Place de la Rotonde, renowned for its fountain dating from 1860 and a strategic landmark in Cézanne's city.

The "Les Allées" shopping centre is arranged around two complementary main blocks, opening widely onto squares and pedestrian streets perfect for strolling, in the purest Aixois tradition. In 2008, the Allées were awarded the PROCOS prize (Promotion Commerces et Services Spécialisés) and the CNCC trophy (Conseil National des Centres Commerciaux) for the best shopping centre completed in 2007, and have since become a model for integrating retail space into a city centre.
